Holy

Midnight Holy is not War Within Holy. If you played this spec before, the changes below matter more than the priority list.

What to press

  1. Don't cap Holy Power
sits above Holy Shock. This is the one that trips returning players.
  2. Divine Toll / Holy Prism on cooldown
  3. Beacon of Virtue before damage
  4. Holy Shock on cooldown
  5. Eternal Flame (single) / Light of Dawn (AoE)
  6. Holy Light
rationed. Your only genuinely expensive button.
  7. Judgment as filler

Nobody dying? Spend Holy Power on Shield of the Righteous for mana and damage instead of overhealing.

Midnight changes

  • Light of Dawn is no longer a cone. It heals everyone within 40 yards of you. Stop aiming it — this changes your positioning more than anything else here.
  • Crusader Strike is gone from the baseline kit. Emphasis moved to Holy Shock and Infusion of Light. It only returns during Avenging Crusader, if talented.
  • Hammer of Wrath isn't castable. It replaces Judgment during Avenging Wrath. Damage up 25%.
  • Avenging Wrath amplifies your next 2 Holy Light casts. Wings is partly a Holy Light window now.
  • Beacon of the Savior is the Apex talent — a third beacon that auto-places on your lowest-health ally, with shield and damage-reduction components. You no longer treat beacon targets as "do not heal."
  • Beacons want to go on ranged. With Beacon of the Lightbringer you get full mastery value from the ranged stack while you're stuck in melee.
  • Awakening tracking is gone. Blizzard deliberately cut the buffs you juggle and the cooldowns you hold.
Verify Whether Holy Prism and Divine Toll share a choice node, and what Walk Into Light currently does. Guides reference both but I couldn't confirm the node layout on a live 12.1 page.
Cooldown tiers, mana and stats3 sections

Cooldown windows

Maxroll ranks them:

  • Godlike — Avenging Wrath + Divine Toll together
  • Strong — Avenging Wrath alone
  • OK — Divine Toll alone
  • Weak — Aura Mastery

Aura Mastery ranks low on throughput but it's 12% party-wide damage reduction on Devotion Aura. It buys raid spots. Press it before the damage.

Mana

Method and Maxroll give the same one-line diagnosis when you go out of mana: you're casting too much Holy Light. Shield of the Righteous regenerates during downtime. You're one of the best Innervate targets in the game — ask for it.

Stats

Item level first, then Mastery → Haste → Crit → Versatility. Mastery scales healing by proximity to your target. Lightsmith flips Crit above Haste for Hammer and Anvil procs. Don't drop 8+ item levels chasing secondaries.

Utility you'll be asked for8 buttons
ButtonUse it for
Blessing of ProtectionPhysical damage on a squishy. Not the tank mid-pull.
Blessing of SacrificeTank external. Watch your own health while it's up.
Blessing of FreedomRoots and slows. Icy Veins says always talent it.
Lay on HandsThe oh-crap. Tirion's Devotion cuts its cooldown 40%.
IntercessionCombat resurrection. Macro it.
Devotion Aura + Aura Mastery12% party damage reduction. Pre-cast it.
Improved CleanseAdds disease and poison. Mandatory for this dungeon pool.
Hammer of Justice / Blinding LightStops and stuns. Blinding Light also handles orb-interrupt mechanics.
Pairings, best first8 pairings
  • Avenging Wrath + Divine Toll — the 'godlike' window: biggest planned heal you own. Scripted raid spikes.
  • Beacon of Virtue + Flash of Light — pop Virtue as damage hits, then pump Flashes; queue one Holy Light for the full transfer.
  • Divine Toll / Holy Prism alone — the 2-minute filler burst. Never sitting on cooldown.
  • Aura Mastery (+ Devotion Aura) — 12% party DR: press it before the hit lands, coordinate on the raid CD sheet.
  • Hand of Divinity → Holy Light ×2 — instant, half-cost Holy Lights, amplified by Wings. This is the Wings ritual.
  • Shield of the Righteous — every quiet global = mana back. The out-of-mana cure is fewer Holy Lights, more of this.
  • Blessing of Sacrifice / Protection — tank external / physical-mechanic immunity. Mouseover macros are on the Macros page.
  • Lay on Hands — the floor is lava button. Tirion's Devotion = 40% shorter cooldown.
Tier set2 notes
Verify Tier set: the 4-piece gives Judgment a 20% chance to grant Infusion of Light, and Holy Light always grants it — that changes your Holy Light usage, so re-read the priority once it lands. The exact 2-piece text wasn't on the pages I read; check the set tooltip.

Catalyst converts non-tier gear to tier and keeps original stats and effects this season. Combined with Raid Finder access you can reach the 2-piece without setting foot in Normal.
